I am back in Kiffa so as to find a video tape to use for International AIDS Day, December 1. Kankossa is planning on observing the day with theater sketches about AIDS, a soccer match, a huge banner, and some informational talks. I will be dispensing advice, making AIDS ribbons (shout out to Mom, who sent me red ribbon and pins), and finding a video about AIDS in Hassaniya and Pulaar to show.
In other news, I have stopped fasting because: a, I did it last year; I know what it's like and that I can do it, b, so many Muslims don't fast, so why should I? and c, it made me too tired and I need to work.
In still other news, I have as of late been obsessed with the question, What Should I Do With My Life? I know some things I will not do: 1. Go to law school 2. Become a professor 3. Do ANYTHING involving public transportation (as in my oft-quoted observation about my civil engineer father: "he finds enjoyment in a bus, which is boring to the rest of us")
What I am thinking of: 1. Living in the States or Europe for a bit before heading back to a developing country 2. something in the non-profit sector (bonus points for hands-on work with kids or AIDS or public health) 3. Something completely different
So. Anyone have any ideas? "What Color Is Your Parachute 1992" can only get me so far...
