As a postscript to my last entry about the locusts, I just got this e mail from an RPCV (returned Peace Corps Volunteer) named Racey (she was stationed in a little village in my region.):

"I just wanted to let you all know that a few of the RIM RPCVs are trying to start raising money to pay for a training on pesticide use as well as the establishment of feeding centers in RIM in response to the damage done by the locusts in the last few months.
We're going to do this through an email/letter campaign to friends, family and colleagues who may be willing to donate.
So, if any of you think your families would be willing to send ANY amount ($10, $20...or more!) either forward them this email and ask them to contact me, so I can send them more information, or send me their email and I will put them on our "mailing" list.
The money will not be going through Peace Corps' budget, rather it will get to Peace Corps through private donations that people will send to me, and will then be donated to the RIM program. I wish there were a more "legit" way of doing this, but unfortunately it doesn't look like there is unless each of you do individual Peace Corps Partnership Projects."

If this interests any of you, please let me know and I'll give you the contact information for Racey. I know this is very informal, but I can vouch for Racey's honesty and character. While I hope that it's clear that I don't want to use this page to grub up money for projects, a couple of you have asked if there is a way to contribute... So like I said, let me know if interested!
