A note on work: M was finally replaced (YES!!!!!!!!) and my new “boss” is so far much much better. I have officially stopped working on the CREN (feeding center) so that I can work on the hygiene and medical waste problem in the hospital. (Yes, this is something I tried to do under M, but he claimed it was not my affair.) My new “Boss,” henceforth referred to as O, has insisted that hospital staff work their full 7 hour days (4 days a week – and no one works all 4 days) plus the four-hour day on Friday. He is troubled by the myriad syringes waiting to inflict a blood borne disease or other injury on unsuspecting hospital patrons. (Yes! Finally! A Mauritanian who understands the dangers of medical waste!) I have been leading the clean-up at the hospital. Yes, you nervous nellies, this did meaning picking up syringes with my bare hands but someone has to do it and I have garden gloves now, OK?
So now I actually have work that I am able to do on a daily basis. Work that ostensibly I will not be doing alone. And it only took 20 months to get to this point!
You know, if anyone felt like posting some questions in the guestbook, that would help me write another entry. My whole life feels so tedious right now that I wouldn’t want to bore you with most of the details. Unless someone finds something interesting to ask.
