everyone who's anyone should read the exciting diary of my friend naruth, who used to be in kiffa, but is now in the DRC.

currently, i am still in nouakchott, trying to change the electricity from carl's name to mine, so that i might enjoy electricity when i move to nouakchott on august 23. the process takes several days and about $60. it is frustrating. it is pointless. it is the epitome of mauritanian-ness.

i am writing bad sentences in lower case letters because i am tired so tired and dreaming of green Amrik (mc arthur park is melting in the dark, all that sweet green icing floooowing down! someone left the cake out in the rain [cuz y'all have both cake and rain] and I DON'T THINK THAT I CAN TAKE IT! cuz it took so long to bake it [in your electric oven] and i'll never have that recipe agaaaain! O NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!)

these coming two weeks are going to be a veritable orgy of literature escapism! i wish they could be an orgy of peanut butter m&m consumption, but the packages my parents have supposedly sent me have not come in yet.

summer just never ends. it never ends in this country.
