After a long absence, here am I once more. I have written an entry about the coup in Mauritania, which I don't feel comfortable posting here, as it is a bit political. However, as soon as I type it, I'll be sending it out to my notifylist. If you are not on my notifylist but would like to receive a copy, send me an e mail.

In other news, I have officially made the move to Nouakchott. The shift has been a little daunting; I had trouble sleeping my first night because all I could hear were the cars on the street outside my apartment. In Kankossa, there is constant noise all through the night, but it is familiar: birds, frogs, cows, music from a wedding across the lake. So now I am homesick twice over.

I must cut this one short, as I have a meeting with my supervisor about my work for the coming year. But, inshallah, I'll update again (and a lot) shortly.
