I'd like to share a poem, written by Espoir et Vie's very own receptionist, whom I call Mariam. With her permission, I've translated it into English for you all. Enjoy!

"The Smile"

A smile costs nothing,
But has great value.
It enriches the lives of those who receive it
Without making poor those who give it.
It lasts one moment,
But we remember it for a long time.
No one is so rich that
He can refuse a smile.
Even the poor can possess one.
The smile makes families happy,
Business profitable, friendships
Long-lasting.

A smile soothes us when
We are tired,
Encourages us when
We are downcast,
Comforts us when
We are sad,
Helps us to conquer
All of our worries.

A smile cannot
Be bought,
Borrowed, or
Stolen.
It has value only
When it is given.

If you meet someone
Who does not give you a smile,
You must be generous
And give him one of your own, for a person

Someone who does not want to give it to
Others.
